Went to go get lunch, and it was impossible to miss the nearly foot long crack in my windshield. It wasn't there when I parked this morning, and it's on the inside of the glass. Well, I've already made arrangements to have it replaced Monday (the soonest possible).
It wasn't even that hot today!

Are there people sitting on the hood of your car?

No, they're just by the front bumper.

This seems to be a common issue on the Dart - another auto site's long term test car had the exact same issue in June, and a brief persual of forums shows numerous complaints.

Did it start at a star or just randomly appear?

Randomly appeared.

A coworker's new Altima also had the windshield crack this summer. I wonder if they have the same glass supplier...

I've heard clear nail polish can keep cracks from spreading.

I might need a gallon of it, then. The crack spread to the center of the windshield.

Just a dab on the end should do, I think.
